After having worked on "Canon" the concept of time has taken on a greater importance in my work. It occured to me at some point that the way time is portrayed in "Canon" is rather 'particulate' in nature, with one painting succedding another. I thought that this was a rather intellectual/historical structure, and that for a person in time that representation would be more spread out over time, be more more duration based.

With that in mind I set out to represent time for an individual life. I gathered footage that I had shot over the last 10 years and composed a 7 hour film that encompassed a life from infancy to old age.

I then took this timeline and compressed it to in a way that there would be fluidity and overlap in the various sequences, the result is "Passage".
